PREVENTIVE

Your child deserves to grow up with a beautiful, healthy smile, and regular in-office care is a major part of preventing most of the conditions that negatively affect their oral health. We provide the most sophisticated preventative dentistry in the industry, and our team can answer any questions you have regarding your child’s dental hygiene.

And don’t let injury or decay stand in the way of your child’s beautiful smile. You can trust Pediatric Dental Specialists to take care of your child’s advanced restorative dentistry needs to renew their self-confidence and help prevent bigger, costlier, and more painful repairs in the future.

Sealants are a protective coating painted on the chewing surfaces of the molars and premolars. The chewing surfaces are especially hard to keep clean because our toothbrush bristles cannot reach into their deep grooves. Therefore, they are more susceptible to harboring the bacteria which cause decay. Sealants will provide a thin covering to keep plaque and debris, decreasing the risk of decay.

Fillings play an important role in maintaining your child’s health. Unfilled cavities never go away and get bigger with time. We remove decay from teeth and replace it with filling material. We offer two options for filling your child’s cavities amalgam (silver) fillings and tooth-colored fillings. With tooth-colored fillings, your child can now benefit from having fillings to flawlessly match their existing teeth, giving them a brilliant, whiter smile!

Damage to your tooth’s inner nerve tissue sometimes requires treatment of the pulp. Pulp Therapy involves removing the soft tissue within the tooth – the pulp – when it has become infected and inflamed. We gently remove the infected tissue out of the root canal of the tooth and fill the void with an inert material. The procedure is completed with the placement of a filling, or, in some cases, a crown. Because your child’s comfort is our priority, our team offers various levels of anesthesia and sedation therapy to keep them relaxed.

We always prefer your children keep their teeth, but in the instance that a tooth has too much damage to be repaired, it may be recommended to extract the tooth. Postponing or forgoing a recommended tooth extraction may lead to complications, pain, and additional costs. To ensure your child is comfortable throughout their extraction, we offer many methods of anesthesia and sedation. Feel confident that your child will be as comfortable and relaxed as possible while their extraction is done by a dental team they are familiar with.

A properly fitted mouth guard may be especially important for people who wear braces or participate in contact sports. PDS offers a variety of mouth guards, so talk to your dentist about selecting a mouth guard that will offer the best protection for you.

A partial denture is sometimes needed if a child’s teeth need to be pulled due to an injury or tooth decay. A partial denture is created to replace those teeth and prevent the existing teeth from moving. The denture is removable and designed to fit comfortably and blend in with any remaining teeth. This type of denture is made from a synthetic material that is supported with a lightweight metal. It mimics their gum tissue and teeth to create a natural looking smile while still remaining functional. Help your child’s self esteem and give them the natural, beautiful smile.
