Cosmetic Dentistry

Actual PatientHelp your child regain their self confidence! Many people are unaware of the numerous ways cosmetic dentistry can heal a child's smile. Your child can enjoy the benefits of cosmetic dentistry and repair smile concerns like spaces between their teeth, stained or discolored teeth, crooked teeth, discolored teeth, broken or missing teeth, and chipped teeth. Change your child's life and let Dr.'s Lockwood, Meeske and Portwood begin crafting your child's beautiful, healthy smile today!

Tooth-Colored Fillings

When decay is removed from a tooth, it is replaced with "filling" material. In the past, amalgam (silver) fillings were placed into the cleaned out portion of the tooth, as they were the only option. Now your child can take advantage of the latest advancements in dentistry with composite (tooth-colored) fillings. Tooth-colored fillings look more natural, restore most of the original strength of their tooth and reduce teeth sensitivity. Your child can enjoy a natural looking bright smile!

Tooth Whitening

Your teen can enjoy a beautiful, white smile with our teen whitening options. This is a great gift to give your teen so they can enjoy the special moments in their life with confidence, including senior pictures, prom, and dances. Make your teen's dreams a reality with teen whitening!

In-office whitening is done in our office. These products are much stronger than the take-home bleach products, since in-office products have more hydrogen peroxide, the active ingredient. They are sometimes used with a light or laser.

The in-office procedure is usually completed in about one hour. To help protect the mouth, the patient's gum tissues are covered either with a rubber dam (a thin sheet of latex rubber that keeps the teeth dry during treatment) or a protective gel.

At-home whitening usually contains the active ingredient carbamide peroxide. At-home whiteners are not as strong as in-office whiteners, since they are meant to be used over the period of days or weeks.

If you use a product at home, your Pediatric Dental Specialists dentist will first make special bleaching trays for your upper and lower teeth. The bleaching gel is placed in the trays, which are worn for short periods during the day or even overnight as specified in the product directions or by your dentist or manufacturer.
